The Alabama-Mississippi District Junior Optimist Club Convention will be in Montgomery, Alabama, on March 29, 2025, from 8 am to 5 pm, at the Ralph David Abernathy Hall, Alabama State University, 1625 Harris Way, Montgomery, AL 36106.

As the event is only one day with no evening activities, there is no need for a hotel stay. However, should you require accommodation, there are numerous hotels in the vicinity of the convention.

We have set the expenses at $35 per person, which covers materials and lunch. 

Optimist Clubs are requested to purchase a minimum gift card of $25.00 to be used for services, food, activities, etc., that the youth will enjoy. These gift cards will be given away as prizes based on games and activities in which youth will participate.

ITEMS TO BRING: 

1) Club show and tell poster:  Please bring a poster outlining the activities your club has undertaken this year.

2) Comfy shoes. 

3) Application and speech (if running for office)

* NOTE:  Please ensure the following conditions are met if a JOI member is running for district office:

Club is in good standing: A Club in good standing is a Club having a minimum of eight members and having paid all dues and fees to Optimist International, and having submitted a roster

Not more than 150 days in arrears for any indebtedness to JOI or its District administration

Charter not revoked or suspended

Our service project this year is collecting pennies for Childhood Cancer.  Please bring pennies. 

The registration deadline is March 7, 2025. This provides us with a timeline for preparing the materials for the group.
